Akhundian Foundation Pakistan Holds One-Day Free Medical Camp in Collaboration with Northern Pakistan Health Foundation and Gilgit-Baltistan Department of Health
Gohari, Kharmang, Baltistan — October 3, 2026— Akhundian Foundation Pakistan, in collaboration with the Northern Pakistan Health Foundation and the Gilgit-Baltistan Department of Health, successfully organized a one-day free medical camp at the Akhundian Diagnostic Center in Gohari, Kharmang, Baltistan, providing essential healthcare services to members of the local community.
The medical camp brought together 18 doctors who voluntarily participated in the initiative, demonstrating an inspiring commitment to serving communities where access to specialized and affordable healthcare can be challenging.
During the one-day camp, 1,032 patients received medical checkups and consultations. Patients were also provided with medicines free of charge, helping reduce the financial burden associated with medical treatment and ensuring that those in need could receive appropriate care.
A Meaningful Healthcare Initiative
For many people living in remote and underserved areas of Baltistan, access to qualified medical professionals, diagnostic services, and affordable medicines remains a significant challenge. Distance, transportation costs, limited healthcare resources, and financial constraints can prevent individuals and families from seeking timely medical attention.
The free medical camp was designed to help address these challenges by bringing doctors and healthcare services directly to the community.
The participation of 18 volunteer doctors made it possible for more than one thousand patients to receive professional medical attention in a single day. Beyond the number of patients served, the initiative provided an opportunity for individuals to discuss health concerns, receive medical advice, and obtain necessary medicines without worrying about the cost.
Impact on the Community
Serving 1,032 patients in a single day reflects the substantial healthcare needs of the communities in Kharmang and surrounding areas. The camp provided immediate assistance to patients who might otherwise have had difficulty accessing medical care.
The initiative also demonstrated the importance of collaboration among nonprofit organizations, healthcare professionals, government institutions, and local communities. By working together, these organizations were able to combine medical expertise, organizational resources, and community outreach to create a meaningful and direct impact.
Akhundian Foundation Pakistan believes that healthcare is not simply a medical necessity but a fundamental component of community development. Healthy communities are better positioned to pursue education, employment, economic opportunities, and a better quality of life.
Commitment to Serving Baltistan
Akhundian Foundation Pakistan remains committed to supporting underserved communities throughout Baltistan through healthcare, education, and other community development initiatives. The Foundation recognizes that sustainable improvement requires both immediate assistance and long-term investment in local communities.
The Foundation expressed its appreciation to the 18 volunteer doctors, the Northern Pakistan Health Foundation, the Gilgit-Baltistan Department of Health, healthcare staff, volunteers, and community members whose efforts contributed to the success of the medical camp.
Their collective contribution made it possible to provide free healthcare services and medicines to more than one thousand patients in one day.
“The success of this medical camp demonstrates what can be achieved when healthcare professionals, nonprofit organizations, government institutions, and communities come together with a shared commitment to service. Reaching 1,032 patients in a single day is not only a significant number—it represents 1,032 individuals and families who received medical attention and support when they needed it.”
Akhundian Foundation Pakistan looks forward to continuing its efforts to improve access to healthcare and other essential services for underserved communities across Baltistan.
