Skardu, August 7, 2026: Akhundian Foundation Pakistan organized a one-day Free Hepatitis B & C Screening Camp at the University of Baltistan, Skardu, on the occasion of the University’s Open Day, with the aim of promoting early detection, awareness, and prevention of viral hepatitis.

During the camp, approximately 160 participants received free screening for Hepatitis B and C. Several participants tested positive during the initial screening and were counseled and referred for further confirmatory testing, medical evaluation, and appropriate treatment.

Why It Matters

Hepatitis B and C can remain undetected for years while gradually causing serious liver damage. Early screening is therefore essential for timely diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of further transmission. By providing free screening in an accessible community setting, the camp helped individuals learn their hepatitis status and take appropriate steps toward protecting their health.
