Chairman and Founder of Akhundian Foundation, Mr. Ghulam Haider Akhundi, has successfully concluded his July 2026 visit to Baltistan, during which he toured education, healthcare, and community welfare projects across Kharmang, Shigar, Skardu, and Rondu. He visited remote schools, inspected the newly constructed Akhundian Diagnostic Center & Urgent Care in Gohari, attended a free medical camp in Hamzigond that served more than 200 patients, and met with students, teachers, healthcare professionals, religious scholars, village elders, and representatives of social welfare organizations. The visit reaffirmed the Foundation's commitment to expanding quality education and accessible healthcare in underserved communities. Mr. Akhundi emphasized that while meaningful progress has been made through teacher appointments, medical camps, scholarships, and healthcare initiatives, significant challenges remain for remote villages. He expressed gratitude to the people of Baltistan, the Foundation's donors, volunteers, and partner organizations for their continued support and called for greater collaboration to improve the lives of vulnerable families throughout the region.

Baltistan / July 30, 2026: Chairman and Founder of Akhundian Foundation, Mr. Ghulam Haider Akhundi, has successfully concluded his extensive visit to Gilgit-Baltistan, reaffirming the Foundation's long-term commitment to improving education, healthcare, and community welfare in some of the region's most remote and underserved areas.

During his multi-week visit, Mr. Akhundi traveled across the districts of Kharmang, Shigar, Skardu, and Rondu, including several difficult-to-reach mountain villages. The visit was aimed at reviewing ongoing Foundation projects, assessing community needs, strengthening partnerships with local organizations, and engaging directly with beneficiaries, community leaders, and government officials.

As part of the visit, Mr. Akhundi inspected NEST Public School Akhonpa, the Foundation-supported school in Koltor Village, and several other educational institutions. He met with students, teachers, school management committees, and parents to discuss educational challenges and identify ways to further improve learning opportunities for children living in remote communities.

He also visited the Foundation's newly constructed Akhundian Diagnostic Center & Urgent Care in Gohari, Kharmang. Once fully equipped, the facility is expected to provide essential diagnostic and emergency healthcare services to thousands of residents who currently travel long distances to access basic medical care.

The Chairman attended a free medical camp organized by Akhundian Foundation in Hamzigond, Kharmang, where more than 200 patients received free medical consultations and medicines. He also met with the District Health Officer (DHO) of Kharmang to discuss healthcare challenges and opportunities for collaboration to improve medical services in the district.

During the tour, Mr. Akhundi visited orphan care institutions, vocational training centers, and several social welfare organizations, including discussions with representatives of Al-Shahbaz Vocational Training Institute, Maqpoon Welfare Organization, Sharba Foundation, SYSTEM Serling Mehdiabad, and other community-based organizations. The meetings focused on strengthening cooperation in education, healthcare, vocational skills development, and humanitarian services.

The Chairman also held meetings with respected religious scholars, including Imam Juma wa Jamaat Syed Ali Mosavi, my high school teacher, and Meer Waiz Gohari Syed Abbas Kazmi, my middle school teacher and Meer Waiz Madhupur, Ghulam Muhammad Zuhairi, village elders, youth representatives, and local community leaders. Discussions centered on social development, education, health, youth empowerment, and strengthening collaboration for the welfare of the people of Baltistan.

Speaking at the conclusion of his visit, Mr. Ghulam Haider Akhundi said:

"Every visit to Baltistan strengthens my faith in the resilience, dignity, and determination of its people. Despite enormous challenges, I witnessed communities that remain deeply committed to educating their children, caring for one another, and building a better future. Their spirit inspires us to continue expanding our work."

He added that while significant progress has been made, many remote communities continue to face shortages of qualified teachers, healthcare facilities, educational resources, and financial assistance for deserving students.

"These are not merely development challenges; they are our collective responsibility. Akhundian Foundation will continue working alongside local communities, government institutions, scholars, and partner organizations to ensure that quality education and accessible healthcare reach every deserving family, regardless of how remote their village may be."

Mr. Akhundi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Baltistan for their warm hospitality and thanked the Foundation's donors, volunteers, supporters, and partner organizations worldwide whose continued generosity has enabled Akhundian Foundation to provide teachers to remote schools, organize free medical camps, offer scholarships, support deserving families, and establish critical healthcare facilities.

He concluded by praying that Allah (SWT) accepts the collective efforts of everyone involved in serving humanity and grants continued progress, peace, and prosperity to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
