Kharmang, Baltistan — A productive meeting was held between the Rescue 1122 Pakistan (District Kharmang) and Akhundian Foundation Pakistan to discuss preparations for an upcoming seminar focused on fire prevention in remote mountainous communities.

During the meeting, both organizations agreed to collaborate on a full-day awareness seminar titled “How to Prevent Fire in Remote Areas,” which will be organized by Akhundian Foundation Pakistan in the village of Madhupure, District Kharmang. This initiative is part of the Foundation’s broader Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) efforts aimed at safeguarding vulnerable communities in Baltistan.

The seminar will provide practical training and guidance to local residents on:

• Preventive measures to reduce the risk of fire in homes and densely built settlements
• Safe handling of electrical systems, heating sources, and cooking equipment
• Emergency response actions to take in case of fire outbreaks
• Protecting lives, property, and community infrastructure from fire-related disasters

Given the unique challenges in remote mountainous areas—where houses are often closely built and firefighting resources are limited—this initiative is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing community preparedness and resilience.
