Akhondian Foundation Pakistan, Who is Hussain? Pakistan, and Ghanche Health Department Organize Free Medical Camp for Flood Victims
Ghanche, Gilgit-Baltistan September 02, 2025— In response to the recent flood crisis, Akhondian Foundation Pakistan, in collaboration with Who is Hussain? Pakistan and the Ghanche Health Department, organized a two-day free medical camp in the flood-affected areas of Ghursay and the remote border village Kharkundo Khandus in the Siachen Valley.
The camp aimed to provide timely medical assistance and free medicines to the affected communities. On the first day, patients from Ghursay village were treated, while the second day focused on Kharkundo Khandus, where over 200 patients received medical care. In total, more than 450 patients benefited from the camp.
The medical team included District Health Officer Ghanche, Dr. Muhammad Kazim, Dr. Kamil, Lady Health Visitors Maryam and Shakeela, and GMT Zamin, who provided checkups, diagnoses, treatments, and free medicines. Diagnostic facilities such as ultrasound, ECG, and blood sugar testing were also made available during the camp.
Community elders from Ghursay and Khandus expressed their gratitude to Akhondian Foundation Pakistan, Who is Hussain? Pakistan, and the Ghanche Health Department for extending timely and much-needed medical relief to flood victims. They emphasized that such initiatives are vital for ensuring access to basic healthcare in remote areas and hoped that similar welfare efforts would continue in the future.
